ERC Starting Grant for Lukas Kapitein

Lukas Kapitein received a prestigious Starting Grant from the European Research Council. This 1.5 M€ grant is intended for excellent researchers with innovative proposals.

The grant will allow Lukas Kapitein to expand the research of his lab on polarized transport in neurons. He will use super-resolution microscopy to dissect the organization of the neuronal microtubule cytoskeleton. Furthermore, he will combine novel transport assays and mathematical modeling to understand how different combinations of motors navigate the neuronal cytoskeleton.

A better understanding of transport in neurons could provide more insights into neurodegenerative diseases.
